For a life-threatening emergency — difficulty breathing or swallowing, swelling affecting your eye or throat, or uncontrolled bleeding — call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
When to call us
Contact us promptly if you have any of the following:
- Severe or worsening dental or gum pain
- Facial or gum swelling
- A gum abscess or pus
- Uncontrolled bleeding
- A loose, painful, or failing dental implant
- Trauma to the teeth, gums, or jaw
- Fever with mouth or gum pain
Common urgent situations
Implant emergencies
A dental implant that has become loose, painful, or is bleeding around the gum line needs prompt attention. Early evaluation gives the best chance of saving the implant and the surrounding bone. Don't wait for it to "settle" — call us.
Gum abscess & infection
A gum abscess — a painful, swollen pocket of infection — can spread if left untreated. Signs include a throbbing ache, swelling, a bad taste, or a pimple-like bump on the gum. Prompt drainage and treatment relieve pain and protect the surrounding teeth and bone.
Post-surgical complications
If you've recently had a procedure with us and have bleeding that won't stop, swelling that's getting worse after the third day, severe pain not controlled by your medication, or signs of infection, call us right away so we can guide you or see you.
